The Caleb Williams-Rome Odunze tandem is going to be must-see TV when the Chicago Bears take the field this season.
However, Week 1 of the NFL season isn’t for another 136 days (give or take). This is where I remind folks that patience will be a virtue for this fanbase. Again. But Bears fans should be used to this by now. Anyway, I’m going to use this moment to encourage the members of this fanbase to channel their most patient self ahead of the 2024 NFL season. So, in the meantime, we’ll just have to settle for watching these two develop their bond away from the field of play.
And I’ve gotta say, after watching this video, these two are off to a solid start:

The best part of that video might be Caleb Williams telling Rome Odunze “let’s hold each other accountable” in that moment. That guy is ready to lead this Chicago Bears locker room. And I am so excited about it.
Watching that interaction reminds me of this quote from Lincoln Riley, Williams’ former head coach at Oklahoma and USC, who had this to say about the new Bears quarterback:
“He wants to win. He wants to be a guy that’s playing (in the Super Bowl). I think, for him, it’s less about location and it’s more about getting in the right situation where he can continue to develop and do the things that he needs to do to help a franchise be successful.”
“That’s it. He’s got a one-track mind that way. No, I don’t think there’s any truth to that all. The guy wants to win. He’s a competitor. He’d love to go first overall. Who wouldn’t? But at the end of the day, it’s about winning for him and nothing else.”
Yes, Caleb Williams has an eccentric personality. Sure, Williams represents the first high profile quarterback of the folks who are part of Gen Z. But Williams wants to ball out. That much we know. With the right attitude, quality coaching, and strong teammates, the sky is the limit for him and the Bears.
And I don’t want to forget about Rome Odunze as part of this equation. Odunze is a top-flight receiver prospect who was one of the most accomplished players in this draft class. Getting both of these guys in the top 10 feels like such a steal. Not just because they’re both tremendous talents, but also because both players give off the type of energy you’d like to see from top picks. The best teams are the ones whose best players are the hardest workers. If the Bears have that in Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze, then the franchise’s future will be bright..
