In the days leading up to the 2024 NHL Draft Lottery on May 7, we’re running a fun series of mock draft pieces that use a lottery simulator to determine the top picks in the draft. Today, we’ll run our second simulation.
As a reminder, I’m using Tankathon’s Lottery Simulator to determine the top 16 picks in the draft and then roll off what I think the picks could be should the 2024 NHL Draft Lottery unfolds in the same way as their sim. For today’s second run, I ran seven (7) simulations for the most recent jersey number the Blackhawks retired, Chris Chelios (and, yes, Brent Seabrook).
Here’s how the sim landed on roll number seven:
Wow! That’s just marvelous, isn’t it? The Blackhawks and Ducks both win the lottery — the worst case scenario for the Sharks. Note: even though Tankathon hasn’t yet replaced the Coyotes with Utah, I have and will continue to refer to them as Utah TBD.
Here’s my first 16 picks in a mock draft using this draft order:
- Chicago Blackhawks — Macklin Celebrini, C
- Anaheim Ducks — Artyom Levshunov, RHD
- San Jose Sharks — Anton Silayev, LHD
- Columbus Blue Jackets — Sam Dickinson, LHD
- Montreal Canadiens — Berkly Catton, C
- Utah TBD — Ivan Demidov, RW
- Ottawa Senators — Zeev Buium, LHD
- Seattle Kraken — Cayden Lindstrom, C
- Calgary Flames — Tij Iginla, C/W
- New Jersey Devils — Zayne Parekh, RHD
- Buffalo Sabres — Cole Eiserman, LW, USNDTP
- Philadelphia Flyers — Carter Yakemchuk, RHD
- Minnesota Wild — Konsta Helenius, C/W
- San Jose Sharks (from PIT) — Liam Greentree, RW
- Detroit Red Wings — Michael Brandsegg-Nygård, RW
- St. Louis Blues — Adam Jiricek, RHD
Why Celebrini to the Blackhawks?
