Patrick Beverley made a series loss that much worse for the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night.
The veteran guard let his emotions get the best of him near the end of Indiana’s blowout victory. With a little over 2:00 minutes left on the game clock, cameras caught Patrick Beverley yelling at fans behind the Bucks’ bench. He could then be seen forcefully throwing the ball into the crowd and hitting a woman on the head. After fans gave the ball back to the player, he threw it a second time at another fan.

Beverley sat down and proceeded to chirp some more before a security guard appears to escort one of the fans away from his seat.
The 35-year-old took to social media and first delivered a seemingly unapologetic response. He suggested that fans were “warned” to stop exchanging words over the course of the game. A handful of hours later, Beverley changed his tone slightly, stating “I have to be better.”
But this situation on the bench wasn’t all. Patrick Beverley took his frustration into the locker room and had one of the most bizarre encounters with a report that you’re going to see.
ESPN’s Malinda Adams was part of the media scrum before Beverley asked her if she subscribes to The Pat Bev Podcast. After saying she does not, Beverley informs her that she can not interview him. He proceeds to take questions from other reporters while pushing Adams’ microphone out of the way and eventually telling her to “move the mic, please, or get out of the circle, please if you’re not subscribed to my podcast.”

Those are two back-to-back unacceptable moves by Beverley. Putting the fans at risk in the way he did will certainly come with discipline from the NBA. If I had to guess, he will be handed both a fine and suspension that will translate over to next season. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see him receive a second fine for his unwillingness to engage with Adams for no credible reason whatsoever.
Charles Barkley – who knew a thing or two about doing stupid things during his playing career – also called out Patrick Beverley for his behavior and said he believes a “good” fine is coming.
Patrick Beverley grew on me during his short stint with the Chicago Bulls last season, but moments like these have me regretting developing that soft spot. This is the antithesis of what he’s supposed to bring into the locker room. The reason he even continues to bounce around the league is because of his strong veteran presence. Moments like these aren’t going to help him stick around on contending teams much longer.
