Caleb Williams (and Other Stars) Showed Up to Support the Chicago Sky!

The Chicago Sky welcomed some familiar faces into Wintrust Arena on Tuesday night.

Facing off in their final preseason game against the New York Liberty, several young Chicago up-and-comers were spotted courtside! Both Bears first-round draft picks – Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze – were in attendance alongside recently-acquired WR Keenan Allen. Meanwhile, emerging Bulls star Coby White was also stationed close to the action.

Again, we’re talking about preseason basketball, folks! The fact that any one of these well-known names made an effort to drop by says a lot about the hype that surrounds this revamped Sky team. Not to mention, it sure helps emphasize the growing popularity of the WNBA as a whole. The more star power attending games, the better!

Supporting the Chicago Sky

You also can’t help but love seeing Chicago sports athletes support one another! Coby White has been known to observe Sky games in recent seasons, so I expect to see him on the courtside again soon. We’ll see whether or not the Bears’ youngsters make their way to Wintrust for a second time, but I’d say there is a good chance.

Williams and Sky rookie Angel Reese already have a friendship. The two grew up in the Washington D.C. area, and Reese recently told NBC Sports Chicago that they talked after he was drafted and plan to hang out in the city.

The Chicago Sky also gave those in attendance every reason to come back ASAP. They took down an intimidating New York Liberty team 101-53. Reese finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals on a 6-10 shooting effort. Veterans Marina Mabrey and Dana Evans stole the show, however, combining for 39 points and 11 assists.

Considering Kamilla Cardoso and Brynna Maxwell are both expected to miss extended time to begin the season, it was an encouraging performance from the new-look squad. With that said, preseason is preseason. The Sky still have a long and challenging road ahead of them this season as they continue their rebuild, but there is no denying things are trending up.

Just ask Caleb, Rome, Keenan, and Coby!
