Triple-A Iowa Cubs (7-4)
Patrick Wisdom crushed a three-run home run to help lead the Iowa Cubs to a 4-1 win over the St. Paul Saints on Wednesday. Iowa starter Thomas Pannone allowed just one run in five-plus innings as Iowa notched their fourth consecutive victory.
Wisdom became the first Iowa Cub to homer in back-to-back games this season and the first since Matt Mervis last September.

Double-A Tennessee Smokies (3-1)
Cade Horton pitched four innings of one-run baseball, and the Tennessee Smokies scored nine runs in a win over the Chatanooga Lookouts on Wednesday. Moises Ballesteros (Cubs’ No. 7 prospect via MLB Pipeline) went 2 for 4, smacked a home run, and drove in three runs for the Smokies.
Cade Horton made his season debut for the Smokies last night. Horton threw 4.0 innings (53 pitches), allowing 1 ER on 4 H and 0 BB, with 4 K.

High-A South Bend Cubs (1-4)
Jefferson Rojas‘ four-hit performance on Wednesday couldn’t save the South Bend Cubs from a high-scoring loss to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The two sides combined for 22 runs on 26 hits, but Wisoncon topped the Cubs 14-8, sending South Bend to 1-4 in the early season.
Rojas had a triple and three RBI in the losing effort. South Bend’s starter, Will Sanders, lasted only two innings, allowing three runs on one hit and three walks.

Low-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans (2-3)
Strong performances from Jefferson Encarnacion (2-4, 2B, 3 RBI) and Nick Dean (3.1 IP, 1 ER, 2 H) helped Myrtle Beach hang on for an 8-6 victory in extras against the Columbia Fireflies. Dean struck out eight in his first outing of the season and walked just one.
Encarnacion delivered a game-winning single in the 11th inning and plated two more runs on a double in the fourth inning. Andy Garriola also added an RBI double for the Pelicans in the fourth inning on Wednesday.
