Last night’s game between the Iowa Cubs and Buffalo Bison at Sahlen Field was postponed due to rain and the impending forecast in Buffalo. The two teams will make up last night’s game with a doubleheader on Thursday, with the first of two seven-inning contests beginning at 3:35 PM CT.
Double-A Tennessee Smokies (9-6)
Double-A Tennessee dominated Rocket City in a 10-4 victory, fueled by an impressive seven home runs. Kevin Alcántara and James Triantos, along with Pablo Aliendo, shone with two-homer performances at Toyota Field. Despite a rough start to the season, Alcántara—ranked fifth in the club’s prospects—has turned things around dramatically, going 13-for-26 with four homers in the last six games after an initial 0-for-26 slump. Yohendrick Pinango’s bat, including a triple and a two-run homer, powered South Bend’s offense. Despite solid pitching from Nick Hull and Koen Moreno, the Cubs couldn’t hold on as Quad Cities surged late for the win.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans pulled off a remarkable comeback, rallying from a 6-0 deficit after the third inning to beat the Lynchburg Hillcats 8-6 in 10 innings on Tuesday night. Jacob Wetzel’s clutch triple in the 10th sealed the deal, capping off a big night for him.
