The Cubs minor league affiliates were off on Monday, so it’s time to take stock of some of the recent hot performers down on the farm in today’s Cubs Farm Report.

Triple-A Iowa Cubs
Third baseman Jake Slaughter led the way for the I-Cubs at the dish last week, swatting a pair of home runs and driving in six in six games. Outfielder Darius Hill racked up nine hits last week and reached base three more times on walks. Out of the bullpen, Richard Lovelady allowed one run and struck out four in two relief outings for Iowa last week.

Double-A Tennessee Smokies
Kevin Alcántara cooled off a bit over the weekend for the Smokies but still hit a pair of home runs for Tennessee last week. However, it was James Triantos who stole the show at the plate for Tennessee this week, hitting a pair of home runs while driving in five runs and stealing two bases. On the bump, Brandon Birdsell’s five innings of scoreless ball last week led the way for the Smokies’ pitching staff.

Outfielder Yohendrick Pinango provided the thump for the South Bend Cubs last week, hitting a pair of home runs, driving in seven runs, and posting a sizzling 1.571 OPS. Jonathan Long had a solid week as well, hitting two home runs of his own while driving in eight runs for the Smokies. Koen Moreno and Sam Armstrong were lights out for South Bend out of the bullpen.

Christian Hernandez and Reginald Preciado led the way for Myrtle Beach in a down offensive week for the group. Juan Bello, Nick Dean, and Erian Rodriguez shone in a much better week for the Pelicans on the mound as a collective.
