PCA is Chaos

I don’t know (yet) if Pete Crow-Armstrong has the same instincts Javy Báez had during his tenure with the Cubs; that pure baseball sense and ability that earned him the El Mago moniker. But PCA does have the tools and the guts to be just aggressive as Javy ever was. Take tonight, for example.

After stealing second base earlier in the game, PCA turned a swinging bunt (and should-be out) into absolute chaos, reaching second out of pure will and hustle.

We saw a little bit of this energy misplaced at the end of last season, but he’s harnessing it better this year. And I’m thinking we haven’t even scratched the surface of what he’s going to try on the bases and in the field. He is chaos.

If the Cubs Are Still Struggling, This Might Be the Decision Tiebreaker at the Trade Deadline

The primary reason the 2024 Chicago Cubs might look to sell at the July 30 MLB trade deadline? Their record. Last night, the Cubs (37-43) fell to a season-low six games under .500 and a season-high 10.0 games out of...

Moises Ballesteros Will Do a Lot of Catching Work at Triple-A Iowa, Which Feels Like a Positive Sign

I saw this tweet from Tommy Birch, who covers the Iowa Cubs, and I really liked what I was seeing: https://twitter.com/TommyBirch/status/1805674723063341331 The reason I like that note so much, is that it would be a pretty significant uptick in Moises...

A Great Start and a Great Moment for Kyle Hendricks, and Other Cubs Bullets

Back into green tea. Got out of it for a while, mostly because the day's consumption of caffeine and caffeine-like products no longer aligned with when I would have a green tea. But I'm trying to make a conscious effort...

Enhanced Box Score: Giants 5, Cubs 1 – June 25, 2024

The Cubs didn't have a small lead to protect in the later innings, but otherwise, this one played the hits: the starting pitcher was great, the offense did precious little, the bullpen gave up a bunch late. I suppose the...

Officially a Farewell: Cubs Release Yan Gomes

The Brewers Are Trading for Dallas Keuchel

I almost appended "in the year 2024" to the end of that headline, but I don't want to get dunked on when it turns out that Dallas Keuchel has got it back. With the Brewers. Because of course that is...
