Not that you’d expect otherwise at this point, but the Chicago Cubs are not running away with the fan voting for the 2024 position player All-Star starters.
You have to go deep to find any Cubs names at all:
Thanks to the combined impact of underperformances and a particularly unenthused home fan base, the Cubs just aren’t going to get a lot of votes. Even if someone goes on a scorcher for the next few weeks, I don’t anticipate it’ll matter.
As it stands, the Cubs are likely to get just the one required All-Star representative, and so long as he bounces back from Friday’s clunker, it’s going to be Shōta Imanaga. A hot run by one of the other three Cubs starting pitchers who are doing quite well COULD conceivably do it, but I still don’t think the Cubs get more than one guy this year.
