2023 New York Jets Season Recap
The city of New York was buzzing for football season last fall as the addition of Aaron Rodgers brought Jets fans hope of a deep playoff run. It all came crashing down in the first game as Rodgers tore his achilles and the Jets went on to a 7-10 season to miss the playoffs for the 13th straight year.
The Jets went through three quarterbacks as Zach Wilson, Trevor Siemian, and Tim Boyle all got under center during 2023 with Wilson starting 11 games. He went just 4-7 in those games. The offense was near the bottom of the league as NYJ was 31st in total yards and 29th in points scored. Wilson, Siemian, and Boyle combined to throw for 11 touchdowns and 15 interceptions on the year.
The defense was solid ranking 3rd in total yards and 12th in scoring with cornerback Sauce Gardner securing another All-Pro selection. Quincy Williams (LB), Quinnen Williams (DL), and Jermaine Johnson II (LB) were solid and each earned Pro Bowl nods.
The Jets were 4-3 after a week 8 win vs the Giants but lost 5 in a row to crush their playoff hopes. Now, the focus moves to 2024 when Aaron Rodgers will be returning at quarterback to lead the offense that struggling mightily in 2023.
