The Denver Broncos are less than two weeks away from arguably their most important NFL Draft in several decades. It’s been a rough go for Denver in recent drafts and they really need to hit it big with whomever they select in the first round.
For now, the Broncos are on the clock at pick No. 12 but they may decide to trade up or down to get their guy. Here’s a look at some potential first-round selections if they stay at their current draft slot.

Who Will the Denver Broncos Pick in the First Round?
It’s no secret the Broncos are in need of a quarterback after releasing Russell Wilson back in March, but they also have needs at tight end, cornerback, and offensive line. Let’s take a look at what Denver may do as their current roster could lead them in several different directions.
Cornerbacks Mocked to the Denver Broncos at Pick 12
Quinyon Mitchell (CB), Toledo – The Broncos were ranked 30th in yards per play allowed last season and Mitchell is NFL-ready. He’d be a solid asset opposite Patrick Surtain if they decide to go the cornerback route with their first selection.
Terrion Arnold (CB) Alabama – At 6’0″ and 196 pounds, Arnold co-led the South Eastern Conference with five interceptions and led the conference in targets ending with an incompletion (43). He’d be another great addition to pair with Surtain.

Other Defensive Players Mocked to the Denver Broncos at Pick 12
Laiatu Latu (EDGE) UCLA – The Broncos could use reinforcements here and it’s unlikely they’ll reach for a quarterback since the top four guys are probably already off the board by this pick. Latu would be a solid selection and possibly the best player available.
Dallas Turner (EDGE), Alabama – Similar to Latu, Turner would provide depth at a premium position and offers plenty of upside for this Denver Broncos defense.
Jared Verse (EDGE), Florida State – Verse is a powerhouse sack machine who can provide that pass rush prowess the Broncos need.
Other Likely Scenarios for the Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos may decide to trade up in the draft and take former Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy since they don’t have a plethora of resources to move up any further to get to the top-three signal callers in this year’s draft class. The Broncos may also trade down out of pick No. 12 to select Oregon’s Bo Nix later in the 2024 NFL Draft. Regardless of how it goes down, they will leave the draft with a new quarterback.
