It was always ridiculous that Reggie Bush had his 2005 Heisman Trophy “taken away” in 2010. The USC football program was being handed down several sanctions for recruiting violations – some of which included improper benefits during his USC tenure from 2003-05. It became even more ridiculous that Bush didn’t have his Heisman Trophy back when the NIL era officially kicked into gear.
Finally, though, the Heisman Trust will formally reinstate Bush’s Heisman thanks to the change in the college football landscape according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Reggie Bush: 2005 Heisman Trophy Winner
Most agree Reggie Bush probably never should have had the Heisman taken away, and that once it was taken away it probably should have been given back much earlier. What’s done is done, Bush is officially back in the record books. Instead of debating things we can’t change, what say we watch some Reggie Bush highlights?! The man was as ELECTRIC of a college football player as I’ve ever seen. And while he ripped my heart out as a Notre Dame fan, it’s impossible to not acknowledge how incredible he was to watch every Saturday.
P.S. if you’re an ND fan like myself, maybe fast forward for 10-15 seconds at the 4:00 mark of that highlight tape. Reggie Bush was great, unreal, electric. But the Bush Push was a penalty.
