Ravens 2024 NFL Draft Grade: B+
The Ravens filled needs in the secondary and at offensive tackle. They also added a few weapons for QB Lamar Jackson. Nate Wiggins and Roger Rosengarten should play right away and look like solid starters in year one. TJ Tampa is a potential steal in the 4th round while WR Devontez Walker has speed and big play ability.
Edge rusher Adisa Isaac from Penn State gives the team another option in the pass rush to help out DT Justin Madubuike who led the team in sacks with 13 in 2023.
What to Love: Wiggins, Rosengarten Will Have Huge Impact
Nate Wiggins can flat-out fly and excels in coverage. He should be a nice compliment to Marlon Humphrey and Kyle Hamilton in the secondary. Defensive tackle Roger Rosengarten needs to add some strength but he has a high motor and is great as a pass protector.
The Ravens also added some depth in the pass rush by drafting edge rusher Adisa Isaac. The team needs options and Isaac has some explosiveness and is a reliable tackler.
TJ Tampa Looks Like a Steal
Cornerback TJ Tampa is a versatile option in the secondary and solid in press coverage. He was a top 90 player on most boards including a top-10 corner. He is looking like a potential steal as the Ravens snagged him at number 130 overall.
Devontez Walker Has Big-Play Potential
While WR Devontez Walker has struggled with some drops in his career, he had a tremendous combine showing off top-5 speed in the class. He was also great in the broad jump and vertical. He has flashed the ability to make tough catches and should be a playmaking threat to boost the offense with Lamar Jackson at the helm.
Ali, Leary, Samac Add Depth
The Ravens have had terrible luck with running back injuries in the past few seasons so adding Rasheen Ali in the 5th round makes sense for a group that needs depth. The team also needs a solid backup quarterback so they are going to see if Devin Leary from Kentucky can develop behind Jackson.
Center Nick Samac allowed just 1 sack during the 2023 season for the Michigan State Spartans. He is great as a pull lead and solid in run-blocking execution. Samac will provide depth for the interior offensive line.
The question remains, did Baltimore do enough to get over the hump and get to the Super Bowl. Lamar Jackson has multiple MVP awards but the Ravens have fallen short of reaching the Super Bowl in his career. This past season, they fell 17-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.
