According to multiple reports, the Chicago Bulls have officially announced that Media Day will take place on Oct. 2 in Chicago. The team’s first preseason game is then set for one week later on Oct. 8 in Milwaukee.
Alongside this announcement came somewhat of a shocker: The first week of the Chicago Bulls’ training camp will take place outside of the state! After hosting Media Day at the Advocate Center, everyone will pack their bags for Belmont University in Nashville. They’ll spend their first five days of camp in Tennessee, per 670 The Score’s Cody Westerlund.
The destination was decided upon by Chicago Bulls players earlier this offseason, according to the Sun-Times’ Joe Cowley. Whether or not there were other options circled on the map is unclear, but I think we can all understand why the team may have found Nashville appealing. I can’t wait for those videos of Nikola Vucevic and Patrick Williams line-dancing in cowboy hats!
In all seriousness, this is a pretty major departure from the norm, and I think I love it. Not only does it seem like a great way to shake things up in Year 3 and bond, but I have to imagine this forces everyone to lock in a little bit more. At the end of the day, they all know they’re in town for one common goal.
