Coby White Stats: The Breakout Season Continues

Coby White has been among the best and most surprising stories in the NBA this season. The 23-year-old guard has taken a massive leap only months after signing a three-year extension with the Chicago Bulls organization.

While White showed signs of improved ball-handling and defensive execution during the 2022-23 season, it still pales in comparison to his production over his 47 games this season. Not only has his scoring efficiency risen to borderline elite levels, but his command over the offense jumps off the screen. Always known as an uptempo player, White has displayed a far better understanding of how to control his speed and read the defense in the halfcourt.

* Career-high

It’s been career-high after career-high for Coby White this season. To be sure, Zach LaVine’s injury trouble played a role in White’s uptick in usage, but the guard still deserves a round of applause for taking full advantage of the opportunity. Not to mention, when LaVine returned in January, White showed no signs of taking his foot off the gas. The guard is playing the most confident basketball of his career.

White has taken full control of the offense and has been the team’s leading scorer during this stretch. White’s impact across the box score has been arguably the most impressive thing since the calendar flipped to 2024. He has five games with six or more rebounds over this stretch, which included two 10-rebound games. The point guard has also continued to improve as a facilitator, dishing seven or more assists in five of 12 games.

Coby White’s 3-Point Shooting

White has always been an above-average 3-point shooter, but he’s joined the league’s top names this season. White currently ranks SEVENTH in 3-pointers made (131). The only names that sit in front of him are Bogdan Bogdanovic, Tim Hardaway Jr., Klay Thompson, Paul George, Luka Doncic, and Stephen Curry.

Among the top 10 players in total 3-pointers made, White also ranks third in efficiency. Curry (40.3) and George (41.8) are the only two players shooting it better than White (39.2) a little over halfway through the season.

Coby White On/Off

To no surprise, the Chicago Bulls have played their best basketball when Coby White is on the floor this season. The sharpshooter is averaging a career-high on/off differential.

The team is +9.8 points per 100 possessions when White is on the floor this year, which Cleaning the Glass has ranked inside the NBA’s 90th percentile. Meanwhile, Dunks & Threes has White’s offensive estimated plus-minus at +2.0, which is in the 82nd percentile.

White also currently leads the NBA in total minutes played (1,685). Only he and 11 other players have appeared in 47 games so far this season.
