The NBA unveiled the 2024 All-Star starters for the big game in Indianapolis next month.
To no surprise, Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James headline the Eastern and Western Conference units, respectively. Both will serve as captains but will not participate in a draft-style roster selection. The league has decided to pivot back to the traditional East vs. West method this season.

Here is your Eastern Conference starting five:
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Joel Embiid
Jayson Tatum
Damian Lillard
Tyrese Haliburton
And your Western Conference starting five:
LeBron James
Nikola Jokic
Kevin Durant
Luka Doncic
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Haliburton is the only player among this group to be a first-time All-Star. Meanwhile, James has now officially set the record for the MOST All-Star appearances in league history. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was previously tied with James for 19.
The biggest surprise is probably the absence of Stephen Curry, who sat second behind Luka Doncic in fan voting during the NBA’s last voting release. SGA must have either surpassed him with a late fan voting surge or saw great representation from coaches and players. Lillard also squeezed passed Trae Young, who sat a little over 100,000 votes ahead on Jan. 18.
We’ll now have to wait a little longer for the league to share the remaining All-Star reserves. Remember, fan vote does not play a part in this process. Head coaches are the ones who will determine the remaining All-Stars.
