The Second All-Star Ballot Update is Still Light on Chicago Cubs

Not that you’d expect otherwise at this point, but the Chicago Cubs are not running away with the fan voting for the 2024 position player All-Star starters.

You have to go deep to find any Cubs names at all:

Thanks to the combined impact of underperformances and a particularly unenthused home fan base, the Cubs just aren’t going to get a lot of votes. Even if someone goes on a scorcher for the next few weeks, I don’t anticipate it’ll matter.

As it stands, the Cubs are likely to get just the one required All-Star representative, and so long as he bounces back from Friday’s clunker, it’s going to be Shōta Imanaga. A hot run by one of the other three Cubs starting pitchers who are doing quite well COULD conceivably do it, but I still don’t think the Cubs get more than one guy this year.
