Things are not good right now. You don’t need ANOTHER post from me to underscore that fact. (But you’re going to get one later today.)
So why not take a breather and appreciate a really fun play from last night’s game. It’s blazing fast Pete Crow-Armstrong scoring from first base on a single:
Speed. PCA is speed.

Now, there are a few factors that lent a hand to pulling the play off. For one, PCA was already in motion on the pitch. That’s NOT the same thing as starting at second base! But it’s also definitely an assist in the whole “scored from first” thing. For another factor, Miguel Amaya is not the swiftest of runners, and while that wouldn’t have been a double for many batters (I bet it would’ve for PCA!), it was a single all the way for Amaya, specifically.
Still. We’ve gotta stretch to get our yukyuks these days, so I’m gonna just say this was fun and good and nice.
Pete Crow-Armstrong, to answer a question about which you might be curious, currently rates out as the second fastest player in the big leagues by sprint speed, behind only Bobby Witt Jr. (and by only a few inches per second of sprint speed).
Second fastest on the Cubs is Seiya Suzuki, at number 59 (Cody Bellinger is 65th, Nico Hoerner is 81st). The Cubs, uh, are not a particularly speedy team.
