Aaron Judge Leads the Way
Aaron Judge is putting up monster numbers and looks like he could be on his way to his second MVP. He’s hitting .288 with a league-leading 21 homers and an OPS of 1.075. He was a beast in May as he hit .361 with 14 homers and an OPS of 1.397 in 28 games.
Judge is on pace to have 167 hits, 48 doubles, 56 homers, 125 RBI, and 127 walks. Numbers like that will be hard to argue against at the end of the year. As always, the biggest question surrounding Aaron Judge is his health. The superstar has dealt with injuries throughout his career that have shortened four of his seasons.
Could Jose Ramirez Be a Sleeper?
Jose Ramirez is 5th in the AL in homers with 16 and leads the league in RBI with 57. The Guardians are 39-20 and don’t seem to be going away anytime soon. Could this make Ramirez a potential sleeper for MVP? Anything could happen as Ramirez is on pace for 121 runs, 173 hits, 44 homers, and 157 RBI. That would be one heck of a season.
While he’s a longshot at +3000, the MLB season can get extremely wild down the stretch. A hot streak here or an injury there can completely shake up the AL MVP race.
Bobby Witt Jr. Putting Up Great Numbers
Bobby Witt Jr. is having an incredible third season in the bigs as he is top 5 in several categories in the AL while sitting 1st in hits and runs. He’s hitting .313 with an OPS of .906 and he’s 3rd in the league in WAR. With odds of +850, he could be a good value bet for the AL MVP.
Witt is on pace for 202 hits, 138 runs, 24 homers, 112 RBI, and 42 doubles. He can do it all and is the leader of a Royals team that is a surprising 36-25 to start 2024.
Will Soto and Judge Fight for Votes?
It’s looking like Juan Soto and Aaron Judge might be battling each other for the 2024 AL MVP as Soto is off to a great start as well. Soto is hitting .322 with 17 homers and an OPS of 1.031. He’s on pace for 45 homers, 141 RBI, 106 walks, and 199 hits.
If Judge and Soto keep up this pace, voters will be looking at one of the best duos in the past decade which could cause votes to be split between the Yankee superstars. Soto hasn’t won an MVP yet in his young career but he did finish 2nd to Bryce Harper in 2021 after hitting .313 with 29 homers and 145 walks at just 22 years old.
