Do States Allow Betting On College Sports?
Each state has different rules on whether or not you can wager on college sports. The three biggest questions are can you bet on college sports, can you bet on in-state teams, and can you bet on player props?
For example, in a state like Michigan, there are no restrictions while Arizona allows college betting even on in-state teams but no player props.
Betting on In-State Teams
Several states have opted to ban betting on in-state college teams. Some of these states allow betting on an in-state team if they are playing in a national tournament. For example, Connecticut does not allow betting on in-state teams but you can bet on the UConn Huskies in the NCAA Tournament.
There are states that even don’t allow betting on any game taking place in the state. The main concern is the safety of players and coaches on college campuses.
Betting on College Player Props
Also, several states have decided against allowing player props. Recently, the state of Ohio moved to ban player props after allowing bettors to wager on them for a year.
