Anders Bjork Signs One-Year Deal With Rockford

I had been waiting to see where Anders Bjork would play hockey next season, and that answer came on Thursday afternoon. The Rockford IceHogs announced Bjork has signed a one-year, AHL contract with the Blackhawks’ affiliate.

The Blackhawks acquired Bjork from Buffalo before the trade deadline last season and I really liked what I saw from the veteran forward before injuries limited his play down the stretch. He still produced two goals and six assists in just 13 games after being acquired by Chicago.

As I mentioned earlier on Thursday, the Blackhawks are going to have some young players who are important pieces in the rebuild starting their professional careers in Rockford this coming season. Bjork could join the likes of Joey Anderson, Reese Johnson, and MacKenzie Entwistle as one of the key forwards in Rockford with NHL experience.

Bjork, 27, has appeared in 225 regular-season NHL games in his career.
