The Blackhawks are off until Feb. 7 with a bye week before the All-Star Game, so it’s a good time to take stock of where they are as a team and update a few thoughts on the future.
We continue to think about the NHL draft(s) in the future as the Blackhawks continue their rebuild efforts. General manager Kyle Davidson has done an excellent job of stockpiling picks across future drafts since taking over as the permanent GM in Chicago.
With the Blackhawks signing veterans Nick Foligno, Jason Dickinson and Petr Mrazek to extensions, it doesn’t appears the Blackhawks will be adding significant draft capital before the NHL’s trade deadline this year like they have over the past two seasons. But that’s okay because they already have a nice collection of picks in the upcoming draft.
