On Tuesday, just a few short days before the Big Ten’s men’s conference championship game, the conference released its postseason honors.
Michigan forward Gavin Brindley was named the conference’s Player of the Year.
Current Blackhawks forward Landon Slaggert (Notre Dame’s captain this season) and Minnesota defenseman Sam Rinzel were named Second Team All-Big Ten. Rinzel and Minnesota forward Oliver Moore were named to the All Freshman Team. Frank Nazar III of Michigan was honorable mention.
Also on the All-Freshman Team: Michigan State defenseman Artyom Levshunov, who could be a strong consideration for the Blackhawks if they don’t land the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Slaggert finished the season fourth in the Big Ten with 20 goals. He will appear in his third NHL game on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.
Rinzel finished the season sixth overall in the Big Ten and second among conference defensemen with 25 assists. Moore’s 24 assists were tied for seventh overall in the conference.
