On Thursday morning, the Blackhawks announced the team has signed forward Cole Guttman on a one-year, two-way contract that runs through the 2024-25 season. The deal has a $775,000 cap hit.
Guttman, 25, signed as a college free agent with the Blackhawks two years ago; he was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was the captain of the University of Denver’s national championship-winning team in 2021-22. In 41 career NHL games, Guttman has scored eight goals with six assists. He has added 70 points (32 goals, 38 assists) in 78 career AHL games with the Rockford IceHogs.
As I wrote previously, the Blackhawks have a list of RFAs they still need to consider. Guttman is the first from that group to get a new contract.
