Tonight we learned the winners of some of the bigger NHL awards of the year are, and the eyes of Chicago were on the Calder Memorial Trophy, where Connor Bedard had the chance to be the first Blackhawks player to win the award since Artemi Panarin following the 2015-16 season.

Many people had left the Faber-Bedard discussion well behind us because of what Connor McDavid did in the postseason. I only bring that up because Panarin upset McDavid for the Calder because an injury cost him time; Brock Faber wasn’t able to do the same despite Bedard missing seven weeks with a broken jaw.

Remember this from 364 days ago? Good times…

And remember when he scored his first career goal?

Tonight, Bedard added the Calder Memorial Trophy to his hardware collection. Which is awesome for him and great for the Blackhawks organization. I can’t wait to see what Year Two of 98 brings.

I will share how I voted for this year’s NHL awards later… promise.
