The flood gates may be opening on trades leading into the 2024 NHL Draft.
The Buffalo Sabres and San Jose Sharks made a move on Thursday afternoon. Buffalo traded back three spots, sending No. 11 overall to the Sharks — who also own the No. 1 overall pick — for picks No. 14 and 42 overall.
The Sharks got the 14th overall pick from Pittsburgh in the deal that sent defenseman Erik Karlsson to the Penguins.
The Sharks got the 42nd overall pick from New Jersey in the deal that sent Timo Meier to the Devils.
The Sharks then made another trade, getting forward Carl Grundstrom from the Kings.
