As the Chicago Bulls reinvent their roster, Dalen Terry is hard at work.
The former No. 18 pick of the 2022 NBA Draft has shared plenty of workout videos online during the offseason. He’s fresh off a sophomore campaign where he appeared in only 59 games, averaging no more than 11.5 minutes per contest. If he wants to see his time on the floor increase in a meaningful way, improving in several areas is a must.
One good way to ensure you do just that is to surround yourself with some of the best of the best. A recent video shared on social media showed Terry on the team with Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Chet Holmgren. The star-studded group was apparently working out with USC assistant Will Conroy.
Here’s the clip from Luca Evans of the Orange Country Register:
Dalen Terry MVP season confirmed!
I’m sure the Bulls are happy to see him practicing alongside such an impressive bunch. Especially with the organization headed toward a youth movement, there could be a real path toward a significant bump in playing time this season. To be sure, Terry would still have to show progress in a number of departments. His jump shot remains one of his biggest flaws, as he has shot just 23.8 percent from long range over his career. And while he’s at least a decently crafty finisher around the rim, the former Arizona Wildcat can be a bit too loose with the ball at times.
The good news for Terry is that he’s got a never-ending motor. If the Bulls goal is to play more uptempo and in transition, he could begin to find his rhythm. Not to mention, a playmaker like Giddey might be able to get more out of Terry as a cutter.
The path is still steep for Dalen Terry when it comes to carving out a significant role, but the opportunity is there in Chicago. Let’s see if spending some time on the court with some of the league’s best will teach him a thing or two.
