Matas Buzelis Sports Bulls Threads, Still No Home for DeMar, LaVine’s Frustration, and Other Bulls Bullets

The Chicago Bulls only have themselves to blame.

DeMar DeRozan is still swimming in the depths of the free-agent market, while Zach LaVine is angrily awaiting a trade. Arturas Karnisovas may have finally realized that the organization was in desperate need of new life, but he did it far too late.

The Bulls surely could have received assets for DeMar DeRozan, Andre Drummond, and Alex Caruso at the trade deadline. They could have also handled this Zach LaVine situation better, as the trade rumors leaked way too close to the signing of his max deal. The official dismantling of this roster is proving nearly as tedious as the on-court product, and there are now some major questions regarding how the Bulls can go about this roster blow-up.

  • Zach LaVine’s trade market remains non-existent. However, despite that obvious fact, it sounds less and less likely that he or the Bulls would welcome his return to the United Center. A new report on Tuesday stressed that LaVine’s relationship with the front office is in complete shambles.
  • Can the two put aside their differences to build back up LaVine’s value? Possibly. But this is the last thing any organization would want looming over them as they attempt to start a rebuild. If LaVine is still in the building, it means finding a trade is the focus over player development. The good news is that LaVine has been a true professional over the bulk of his career, but there is also no telling what he and Klutch might do after this much tension. Also, for what it’s worth, I’d completely understand any frustration from LaVine and his camp in the event that he’s forced to return. The Bulls have acted so desperate to move him, and I think this has played a part in where his market currently stands.
  • As for DeMar DeRozan, the Lakers may have taken themselves out of the running for his services this morning. LeBron James agreed to a fresh two-year deal and didn’t take a pay cut. While the door isn’t officially shut on a potential DeRozan sign-and-trade, it’s not going to be easy.
  • Let’s shift to the more hopeful news. Matas Buzelis stepped foot into the Advocate Center on Tuesday for his first time as a Bull! The team shared a video of him reacting to his jersey, and the smile on his face says it all:
  • We also got a look at Buzelis – aka Bull-zelis – in his new threads. The team originally shared that he would rock double 00s, but the 19-year-old has shifted to the No. 14. He knocked down his first of MANY buckets in the uniform the moment he stepped on the practice court:
  • Buzelis plays with the kind of vigor and personality I think many will find refreshing. He plays aggressively, isn’t afraid to trash talk, and seemingly loves to be in front of the camera. Considering the more timid mindset of Patrick Williams and the out-of-control play style of Dalen Terry, Buzelis has an opportunity to win over a lot of Bulls fans very quickly. Of course, the most important thing will be hist on-court production, but we already know he’ll feel more comfortable than many other first-round picks thanks to his time with the G-League Ignite.
  • The Warriors are apparently close to acquiring Buddy Hield, which would seemingly take them out of any Zach LaVine conversations.
  • The Chicago Bulls shared a video of Josh Giddey posterizing someone on the national stage. As fun as this clip is, I just wanted to let everyone know it’s from last summer’s FIBA World Cup. I think it’s still a great example of how the jumbo guard can use his size to his advantage, but we’ll still have to wait a few weeks before we actually get to watch him on the floor. Giddey is expected to be a big part of Team Australia at the Paris Summer Olympics.
  • Angel Reese is putting together a historic rookie season, which is highlighted by her All-Star nod on Tuesday night!
  • This was fascinating …
  • A lot of movement around the NHL.
