WATCH: Angel Reese Tears Up After Making First All-Star Game

It’s been one hell of a week for Sky Rookie Angel Reese!

Yesterday, after being named the WNBA Rookie of the Month for June, Reese found out that she’s also been named to the WNBA All-Star team after the Sky’s 85-77 road win over the Atlanta Dream! In the win, Reese recorded 12 points and a whopping 19 rebounds to extend her WNBA-record streak of 11 consecutive double-doubles.

In the locker room after the win, head coach Teresa Weatherspoon had the honor of sharing the All-Star news with Reese and the team.

Check out the awesome moment:

Angel Reese Gets Emotional After All-Star Nod

Reese continued to fight back tears during her conversation with the media. She made reference to blocking out all the criticism that came her way about adjusting to the WNBA game, as well as how thankful she is that she ended up falling into the Sky’s lap at No. 7 in the draft.

The 22-year-old will join Caitlin Clark as the only other rookie on this year’s All-Star roster. She’s also the first Sky rookie to make the cut since Elena Delle Donne in 2013.

I love clips like that. You can tell how much the honor means to Angel Reese, who’s come into Chicago and made an immediate impact for her team on and off the court from Day 1. Seeing players get so emotional after their hard work pays off is one of the coolest parts about sports, in my opinion.

The WNBA All-Star game takes place later this month at the Footprint Center in Phoenix on July 20th.
