Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 8, Giants 2 – September 6, 2023

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.

Jordan Wicks’ Wrigley Field debut was a successful one, lasting 6.2 innings of two-run ball. It’s always a bit harder to tell from the bleachers how a guy’s stuff is playing out on a given day, and I know that Wicks struck out only one. But I also know that he got a whopping 12 groundouts on a day with the wind HOWLING out at Wrigley, so that seems really good!

It was particularly fun to be there for Wicks’ Wrigley Field debut, Alexander Canario’s big league debut (he was cold! a strikeout was to be expected! or something!), and Luke Little’s big league debut (good lord did he look nasty).

The Cubs did not let up on Giants starter Alex Wood (Seiya Suzuki stayed blistering hot and set the tone with a bases-clearing double in the first), and kept tacking on from there, including solo homers from Miguel Amaya and Cody Bellinger.
