Triple-A Iowa Cubs Prospects
The Iowa Cubs lost 8-4 to the Toledo Mud Hens. Riley Thompson gave up one run on one hit over three innings. Brad Wieck got his first loss of the year after allowing four runs in relief. Darius Hill had a two-run single and scored on a throwing error. If you missed it, Nick Madrigal was placed on the injured list with a broken left hand after being hit by a pitch on Wednesday. He’ll be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Double-A Tennessee Smokies Prospects
The Tennessee Smokies were defeated by the Birmingham Barons 12-8. Starting pitcher Chris Kachmar allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits over three and a third innings. The Barons won the game with a six-run eighth inning. Cam Sanders took the loss. Luis Verdugo hit a two-run home run, and Moises Ballesteros hit a solo home run. Kevin Alcántara and Matt Shaw each contributed two hits, and Christian Franklin had two hits as well.

Jonathon Long hit a two-run home run, Pedro Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base, and Parker Chavers went 2-for-4 with a stolen base.

Low-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans Prospects
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans defeated the Augusta GreenJackets 5-2. Jaxon Wiggins made an impressive debut, pitching three innings and allowing just one hit with no runs, striking out five. Erian Rodriguez got the win with three innings of relief, giving up one unearned run on three hits and striking out five. Andy Garriola hit a two-run home run, and Jacob Wetzel hit a solo home run. Cristian Hernandez went 3-for-5.
