CUBS LINEUP — How much worse can it be than last night? Let’s find out together!
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Nico Hoerner, 2B
- Michael Busch, 1B
- Cody Bellinger, RF
- Seiya Suzuki, DH
- Ian Happ, LF
- Dansby Swanson, SS
- Pete Crow-Armstrong, CF
- David Bote, 3B
- Miguel Amaya, C
Despite his offensive struggles since returning from the HBP that created a fracture (that he’s playing through), Nico Hoerner gets the leadoff spot. And with Mike Tauchman out, Cody Bellinger plays right field and move Seiya Suzuki to the DH spot.
San Francisco Giants Lineup:
- TBA
Pitching Matchup:
Chicago Cubs: Justin Steele, LHP
Justin Steele has looked good lately, with just two earned runs over his last four starts and 25.0 IP. That stretch also includes 25 strikeouts, a .194 AVG against, and not one single barreled ball in play. Now that’s what I’m talking about. Be warned, however, the Giants are slashing .269/.341/.426 (121 wRC+) versus left-handed pitching this season, fourth best in MLB.
San Francisco Giants: Logan Webb, RHP
Logan Webb has not had a start shorter than 6.0 full innings since May 5. And during that stretch of seven solid outings, only one game did not qualify as a quality start (and that was still 7.0 IP with only 4ER … against the Yankees). His walk rate over that stretch? 4.4%. His groundball rate? 53.5%. If it wasn’t for a little too much hard contact allowed, we’d be talking about a pretty flawless month and a half. Good luck, Cubs!
