The home run regression stick hit Shōta Imanaga as hard today as the Mets did (even when they weren’t hitting homers). He was not sharp, the Mets were on him, and the velocity was noticeably down. As long as he’s healthy, I’m not concerned – this type of day was always coming for him, it’s just one of the risks of his style.
And that was just about the story of this one. Even if the Cubs hadn’t been almost wholly ineffectual offensively, it likely wouldn’t have mattered when stacked against the Mets’ offensive outburst against Imanaga.
Nice job by Porter Hodge with 2.1 scoreless with five strikeouts (two walks ended his appearance). Hayden Wesneski also pitched a couple innings to help save the bullpen. Luke Little pitched 1.2 innings. All solid. All as low leverage as it gets …
