Incredible. Truly. It’s going beyond the point of believability at this point. The Cubs blew YET ANOTHER save tonight. And this time, they did it by intentionally walking the bases loaded before walking in the game-winning run, just to … you know, really twist the knife.
And the worst part is, we all knew it was coming.
Over an hour before this game ended, I posted the following question, which was neither insightful nor intended as comedy. It was just … sadly predictable.
For the one billionth time this season, the Cubs
- Got an excellent start from their starter — tonight, that was Justin Steele (The Ankin Law “Making it Personal” Player of the game).
- Failed to come through with runners in scoring position over and over and OVER AND OVER
- Took a small lead into the late innings, before watching the bullpen blow it yet again.
I can’t watch this exact same game again. It really feels like one of those evil time loops. This team is not good and someone from the front office needs to take responsibility – for the offense, for the bullpen, for the losses, for all of it.
Whatever. We can talk about it tomorrow. I’m just not interested in thinking about this team any more tonight.
