CUBS LINEUP — Well, the Cubs are on the doorstep of a four-game series sweep to one of the teams directly ahead of them in the Wild Card standings. But given the way things have gone lately – including the most recent injury news – I’m not so sure we need to worry about playoff odds. Here’s a look at the Cubs lineup for Game Four in SF.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Nico Hoerner, 2B
- Michael Busch, 1B
- Cody Bellinger, RF
- Seiya Suzuki, LF
- Ian Happ, DH
- Chris Morel, 3B
- Dansby Swanson, SS
- Pete Crow-Armstrong, CF
- Tomas Nido, C
The Cubs lineup this afternoon is nearly identical to last night’s group, with just a couple small exceptions. First, Ian Happ is the man getting the half-day of rest at DH, with Seiya Suzuki coming in to play left field for what I believe to be the first time in his MLB career. Bellinger’s glove is a better fit for right at Oracle Park. And Tomas Nido is back behind the plate.
San Francisco Giants Lineup:
- Austin Slater, LF
- Heliot Ramos, CF
- Wilmer Flores, 1B
- Matt Chapman, 3B
- Jorge Soler, DH
- Luis Matos, RF
- Thairo Estrada, 2B
- Nick Ahmed, SS
- Curt Casali, C
Pitching Matchup:
Chicago Cubs: Shota Imanaga, LHP
Shota Imanaga is coming off an almost unbelievably bad start, wherein he allowed TEN earned runs on 11 hits in just 3.0 innings pitched. Let’s, uh, hope he bounces back from that one.
San Francisco Giants: Jordan Hicks, RHP
Jordan Hicks got absolutely lit up by the Cardinals his last time out, with five earned runs on six hits (two homers), three walks, and just one strikeout over 4.0 IP. But he’s generally been quite good this season on the whole: 3.24 ERA. Lefties have historically hit him far better than righties.
