Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Giants (2:45 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Giants MLB Draft
Giants MLB Draft

CUBS LINEUP — Well, the Cubs are on the doorstep of a four-game series sweep to one of the teams directly ahead of them in the Wild Card standings. But given the way things have gone lately – including the most recent injury news – I’m not so sure we need to worry about playoff odds. Here’s a look at the Cubs lineup for Game Four in SF.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

    1. Nico Hoerner, 2B
    2. Michael Busch, 1B
    3. Cody Bellinger, RF
    4. Seiya Suzuki, LF
    5. Ian Happ, DH
    6. Chris Morel, 3B
    7. Dansby Swanson, SS
    8. Pete Crow-Armstrong, CF
    9. Tomas Nido, C

The Cubs lineup this afternoon is nearly identical to last night’s group, with just a couple small exceptions. First, Ian Happ is the man getting the half-day of rest at DH, with Seiya Suzuki coming in to play left field for what I believe to be the first time in his MLB career. Bellinger’s glove is a better fit for right at Oracle Park. And Tomas Nido is back behind the plate.

    San Francisco Giants Lineup:

    1. Austin Slater, LF
    2. Heliot Ramos, CF
    3. Wilmer Flores, 1B
    4. Matt Chapman, 3B
    5. Jorge Soler, DH
    6. Luis Matos, RF
    7. Thairo Estrada, 2B
    8. Nick Ahmed, SS
    9. Curt Casali, C

    Pitching Matchup:

    Chicago Cubs: Shota Imanaga, LHP

Shota Imanaga is coming off an almost unbelievably bad start, wherein he allowed TEN earned runs on 11 hits in just 3.0 innings pitched. Let’s, uh, hope he bounces back from that one.

San Francisco Giants: Jordan Hicks, RHP

Jordan Hicks got absolutely lit up by the Cardinals his last time out, with five earned runs on six hits (two homers), three walks, and just one strikeout over 4.0 IP. But he’s generally been quite good this season on the whole: 3.24 ERA. Lefties have historically hit him far better than righties.

Fans Injured at American Family Field in Milwaukee After Escalator Malfunction Following Cubs-Brewers

Apparently there was a terrifying incident at American Family Field in Milwaukee after today's Cubs-Brewers game. One of the escalators at the ballpark malfunctioned, and eleven people were injured. The Brewers acknowledged the incident in a statement after the game:...

I Absolutely LOVED Justin Steele Firing Up the Troops Today

Justin Steele had ENOUGH. The Chicago Cubs had a weird day today, before going on to beat the Brewers 5-3. They got off to a great start, including a two-run ambush homer from Michael Busch, but let the game get...

    Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 5, Brewers 3 – June 29, 2024

Come on. It wouldn't be a Hector Neris save opportunity if the tying run didn't reach base. You didn't expect otherwise, did you? In a game that could've slipped away a couple times, the Cubs actually showed some life and...

Ian Happ With a CLUTCH 8th Inning Homer

Ian Happ gets some undue grief, but none of it has made less sense to me than this idea that he isn't clutch. Not only do the numbers just straight up disprove it, I feel like it's been ESPECIALLY true...

CUBS LINEUP — This isn't the place for the longer conversation I want to have, but I just can't believe this Cubs team. They really let a 33-year-old Colin Rea hold them to two runs in a game/at a point...

Michael Busch Ambushes the Brewers with His 10th Homer of the Season

Running Low on Hope, Running Into Outs, Running Around, and Other Cubs Bullets

    Enhanced Box Score: Brewers 4, Cubs 2 – June 28, 2024

Back on the losing bus after a one-game blip in San Francisco. Jameson Taillon was a backhanded snag of a grounder away from maybe throwing six or seven scoreless, borderline dominant innings. But the Brewers loaded the bases in the...

Seiya Suzuki Hits Homer Number 10 on the Season

Pre-Gamin’: Cubs vs Brewers (7:10 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

CUBS LINEUP — The Brewers are in first place of the Cubs' division, but if we're actually talking about playoff odds, beating the Giants might've been more important than this weekend series in Milwaukee. But given how frustrating the Brewers...
