Another salvage job. Cubs are good at that at least!
The Cubs jumped out an early lead on the strength of a Nico Hoerner homer and a Seiya Suzuki triple, but it took a 10th inning Ian Happ blast to actually seal the win. He’s gotta be the Ankin Law “Making It Personal” Player of the Game today, though there are some others who were also impactful along the way.
Shōta Imanaga got tagged with some bs runs there at the end, but he was solid (if unspectacular) today. Velocity bounced back, too, so no worries on that front (and he’d said the drop last time was intentional).
How about the bullpen today? They held this thing down, with some outstanding performances. Needed it, and although they haven’t always come through, today they really did. Luke Little striking out the side. Tyson Miller good again. Hector Neris with a 1-2-3 9th in a tie game?! Porter Hodge getting the save? That stuff was fun.
