CUBS LINEUP — This isn’t the place for the longer conversation I want to have, but I just can’t believe this Cubs team. They really let a 33-year-old Colin Rea hold them to two runs in a game/at a point in the season when they just really have to win. It’s incredible. Anyway. Let’s try again, I guess.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Nico Hoerner, 2B
- Michael Busch, 1B
- Cody Bellinger, DH
- Seiya Suzuki, RF
- Ian Happ, LF
- Chris Morel, 3B
- Dansby Swanson, SS
- Pete Crow-Armstrong, CF
- Tomas Nido, C
I’ve tried nothing and I’m all out of ideas!
It’s pretty much the same Cubs lineup once again today, only this time Tomas Nido is behind the plate and Justin Steele is on the mound. Cody Bellinger is also shifting to DH with Suzuki back in right field, but the relative order is all still the same.
Milwaukee Brewers Lineup:
- Brice Turang, 2B
- William Contreras, C
- Christian Yelich, DH
- Willy Adames, SS
- Jackson Chourio, LF
- Rhys Hoskins, 1B
- Sal Frelick, RF
- Blake Perkins, CF
- Andruw Monasterio, 3B
Pitching Matchup:
Chicago Cubs: Justin Steele, LHP
Justin Steele is on one hell of a run, with just six earned runs over his last 39.0 IP (six starts), good for a 1.38 ERA. His 26.8% strikeout rate over that stretch is excellent, as is his 6.4% walk rate. Meanwhile, with just a 4.9% barrel rate, opposing batters are hitting just .193 off him during this stretch. It’s been very impressive and heartening to see, regardless of what else is going on.
Milwaukee Brewers: Tobias Myers, RHP
Tobias Myers has made four really excellent starts in a row, allowing just two earned runs on 13 hits and six walks in 25.1 IP. However, he wasn’t exactly facing good teams for three out of four – Tigers, Blue Jays, Angels, Padres. Then again, the Cubs aren’t a very good team!
