CUBS LINEUP — The Cubs offense couldn’t manage much of anything until the 9th inning last night, which is nothing new for this group. Unfortunately, today, they have the tough task of facing Zack Wheeler. Let’s see what this Cubs lineup has to offer.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Nico Hoerner, 2B
- Michael Busch, 1B
- Cody Bellinger, RF
- Seiya Suzuki, DH
- Ian Happ, LF
- Chris Morel, 3B
- Dansby Swanson, SS
- Pete Crow-Armstrong, CF
- Miguel Amaya, C
Without any prospect promotions – and with Mike Tauchman on the IL – there’s not much Craig Counsell can do with the Cubs lineup. And yet, everyday I’m a little bit surprised he’s not trying anything different for a group that just struggles so badly. Even if it doesn’t make an actual difference, you’d think a little mental shakeup might provide … something. I don’t know.
Philadelphia Phillies Lineup:
- Bryson Stott, 2B
- Trea Turner, DH
- Alec Bohm, 1B
- Nick Castellanos, RF
- Edmundo Sosa, SS
- Whit Merrifield, 3B
- Cristian Pache, LF
- Miguel Rojas, CF
- Rafael Marchan, C
Pitching Matchup:
Chicago Cubs: Shota Imanaga, LHP
Shota Imanaga through a quality start against the Giants his last time out, with three earned runs on five hits over six innings. With only 3Ks and 2BBs, it wasn’t his best performance overall, but it was a nice bounceback outing after the blow-up against the Mets. Let’s see if he can build on that against a tough Phillies squad — even without Harper, Schwarber, and Realmuto, they’re capable of scoring runs (that said … Schwarber and Harper were actually two of their best hitters versus lefties despite being lefties themselves).
Philadelphia Phillies: Zack Wheeler, RHP
Zack Wheeler was blow up by the Orioles a few starts back, but he bounced back against the D-Backs and Marlins with just 3ER allowed over a combined 13.2 IP. For the season, he has a 2.73 ERA and 112 strikeouts. He’s quite good.
