The Flex Position
The fantasy football flex position is starting lineup spot where a fantasy manager can play an extra running back, wide receiver, or tight end. Most standard leagues don’t allow you to play a quarterback at the flex but there are a few that do allow a QB in that roster slot.
Drafting the Flex Position
Drafting players for your flex position takes a little bit of strategy. You want to get value but it can be difficult because the player can easily change from week to week as you figure out what skill player is giving you the most value from your bench by racking up solid fantasy points when inserted into the flex position.
Also, as the draft continues, there are only so many players you can rely on left that will be able to fill the flex position. This is because each team has two running backs and two receivers. That means skill players go quickly throughout the draft.
Flex Types Based on League
Your league type or scoring format will have an impact on who you want at the flex position. If you are in a PPR league, that means your players get one point per reception. In this case, you’ll want a player at the flex position that will get a ton of receptions.
If you are in a standard scoring league, you will be looking at touchdowns as well as yards gained. This makes the running back valuable if they are the feature back of their team. They are a great flex option as they can rack up rushing and receiving yards as well as TDs.
