The Lakers get to keep their 2024 1st round pick thanks to the Pelicans passing on it until 2025. Take a look at the Los Angeles Lakers 2024 NBA Draft picks.

  • 1st Round: No. 17 – Dalton Knecht – SF (Tennessee)
  • 2nd Round: No. 55 overall
  • Lakers Keep 2024 1st Round Pick

The New Orleans had the rights to the Lakers 1st round pick in this year’s draft thanks to the Anthony Davis trade but have decided to defer the pick to next year. The Pelicans are likely thinking the Lakers could possibly lose LeBron James in free agency and end up with a better pick next year. James has a player option and can choose to become a free agent this summer.

    Lakers Future Draft Selections

The Lakers have some big decisions this offseason and could be in rebuilding mode depending on how it shakes out. Check out their future draft selections for the next few years.

    Huge Offseason Questions in LA

(Will LeBron leave LA this summer? Photo by: Jason Parkhurst-USA TODAY Sports)

It is going to come down to what LeBron James does this summer. He has a player option and can choose to opt out of his current deal with the Lakers. There is plenty of talk about him wanting to play with his son Bronny who has decided to remain in the 2024 NBA Draft.

It is possible we could see LeBron James jump ship to whatever team decides to draft his son in June. If LeBron James moves on, the Lakers will have tough decisions ahead as they are several key players away from competing in a loaded Western Conference.

    Lakers Recent Season Results

The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most successful basketball franchises in NBA history with some of the greatest players ever wearing the uniform. Kobe Bryant, Shaq, Kareem, Magic, and LeBron have been part of championship teams for one of the most popular teams in all of sports.

The Lakers won their most recent title in 2020 in the bubble but haven’t been able to get back with two of their last three playoff appearances ending in first-round exits. LA did reach the Western Conference Finals in 2023 but was swept by the Denver Nuggets. Take a look at some of the recent season results.
