Kings Draft No. 13 in 1st Round
The Kings select at number 13 overall in the first round and they hope to make a splash as they try to take advantage of De’Aaron Fox’s prime. Fox scored 26.6 points per game in 2023-24 and has shown he has what it takes to be a star. Sacramento needs to add a valuable piece in the first round to complement Fox and Domantas Sabonis.

Have the Kings Ever Had the No. 1 Pick?
The Kings have had the number-one pick five times in franchise history. They selected Pervis Ellison in 1989, Oscar Robertson in 1960, Bob Boozer in 1959, Hot Rod Hundley in 1957, and Si Green in 1956.
Oscar Robertson was by far the most successful with the franchise. He played 10 seasons with the Cincinnati Royals and won the MVP in 1964. Robertson averaged 29.3 points, 10.3 assists, and 8.5 rebounds with the Royals.
Robertson was named All-NBA 11 times, made 12 All-Star teams, and was a 6-time assist champ. After leaving Cincinnati, he won the 1971 NBA Championship with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Sacramento Kings Recent Season Results
The Kings were bounced from the Play-In Tournament in 2024 by the Pelicans and missed out on making the playoffs for a second straight season. The Kings reached the playoffs in 2023 for the first time since 2006. Sacramento was beaten 4-3 by the Golden State Warriors in the first round.
It hasn’t been a great run for Sacramento in the past 20 years after starting the 2000s strong. The franchise reached the Western Conference Finals in 2002 but the Kings were knocked out in 7 games by the Los Angeles Lakers.
The franchise hasn’t reached an NBA Finals since the 1950-51 season when it was the Rochester Royals. That season, the Royals went 41-27 and won the NBA Finals 4-3 over the New York Knicks. The team then became the Cincinnati Royals in 1957, the Kansas City-Omaha Kings in 1972, the Kansas City Kings in 1975, and the Sacramento Kings in 1985.
